What your Guidance Department can do for you!

Career Planning

We will explore with students their career goals and aspirations. To ensure that students find the road to success we offer programs and courses to help students begin to plan for the future. Students will participate in career exploration at various times during their high school career. We offer an on-line, internet based career program for further career exploration. The program is called Career Cruising and can be accessed directly from our web-page or by typing www.careercruising.com into your internet address bar. Our user name is Blairsville and the password is Careers.

Post-Secondary Planning

Our Guidance Department will work with students and parents on post-secondary educational goals for both college-bound and non-college bound students. Our counselors utilize a timetable and planning procedures for college admission testing, transcripts and letters of recommendations. The guidance department will host college, technical schools and military presentations to provide an opportunity for all of our students to meet and speak with admissions/recruiting personnel. We are dedicated to providing students and parents with Scholarship information throughout the school year. We encourage students and parents to periodically check our web-page for up-to-date Scholarship information. You can do this by double clicking on our Scholarship Link.

Graduation/Placement/Scheduling

To meet each individual students unique needs, the Guidance team works with teachers, parents, and each other to ensure the best education for every individual student. We will monitor your child's progress and credit requirements and review each students graduation status. Graduation Requirements include: Completion of Blairsivlle High Schools' Credit Requirements, the High School Graduation Project and Proficiency on the PSSA's.

Testing

Counselors will provide information on standardized testing for post-secondary education such as the PSAT's, SAT's and the ASVAB. Currently all three of these tests are being given at the Blairsville High School Campus. The Guidance Department will also coordinate the administration of the PSSA's and other district assessments.
