The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board of Directors would like to recognize Lorin Johnson, a paraprofessional at Saltsburg Elementary School. She has worked for the district for 29 years. In her years of working at the school, she has helped with many different projects that include Annually, she made neckties for all of the second grade, she was the designer and facilitator of the ornaments for the SES trees at the canal at Christmas, each year she conducts a wool demonstration for our students and spearheads many painting projects. Also, Mrs. Johnson makes favors for our annual Senior Citizen and Veterans luncheon. This year, with the help of her sister, they made 25 fleece tie blankets to give to our Veterans.
Her most recent project is making masks for those in need during the pandemic. Last spring when the lunch delivery was occurring on district school buses, Lorin made masks for the volunteers. All told, Lorin has made 2,000 masks and raised $1,500.00 through donations to send to the organization Rise Against Hunger. This organization helps students in impoverished countries receive food when they attend school. Mrs. Johnson is a cancer survivor and believes that she has been given a second chance to make a difference in the lives of others.
We wish Mrs. Johnson the best in her retirement.
